Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade Item upgrade, commonly called “upping,” improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment increases the stats linearly. Players can recycle six items at once to gauge each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases depending on their rarity and level. Upgrade components In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to increase the stats on your armor and weapons. This can be accomplished through a variety of methods such as using upgrade components or increasing the rarity or mark level. In addition to this, many items can be reforged, which can increase their stats. Upgradable items can be found in the game, both around the world and as rewards for missions. This is displayed on the item, when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This isn't the actual amount by the glyph can increase a stat, but the maximum amount by which it is able to do so. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and quality of the item you're in awe of it. The majority of upgrade components inserted into items can't be removed or replaced without dismantling them, with the exception of legendary upgrades and equipment. If you have a rune or glyph you do not want to use, but it's not been applied to gear yet, you can move the item to another piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. This will create the new Glyph Set with the selected glyph. You can remove the glyph using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will cause the item to be destroyed that it was installed in however, you can salvage the upgraded item with the glyph and its shards so this should not be considered a loss. A glyph added to an item can cause it to become unstable and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory once you remove the item. You can also put an inscription on your equipment to give it a bonus. Deferred Damage, for example can be used to store damage and then be dealt slowly to the wearer instead of all at once. This is useful for those who take a lot damage from their enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed. Reroll tokens Reroll tokens let players alter the affixes they use on their weapons and equipment and they can be obtained in various ways like mistery boxes, as an uncommon drop from skulled creatures, or from killing bosses. Each reroll gives the player a random affix that is usually better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can also be a good option to reroll stats on weapons, which can be upgraded to increase damage or perks. Items that have been rerolled may not appear in the upgrade menu, however they can still receive upgrades. By pressing the “upgrade button”, you can recycle these recycled items. This will alter the layout of the item's window and let up to six items be chosen to recycle. Recycling an item can add a small amount of points to its level gauge.
